Using Facebook for blogging Posted by Nikole H. on Nov 06, 2009
I figured that since I am on facebook ALL THE TIME, I might as well try blogging on facebook.  I created a new profile under the name, "Puppets by Nikole."  Yeah that's simple enough. :D  I am not computer savvy and cannot upkeep a website or blog.  I can't grasp the concept of coding nor do I really want to.  I like to be able to push a button and it will add a picture for me.  Here are some of the features of facebook that I like:

1. IT'S FREE!!! :D  Who doesn't like THAT feature?!
2. Easy photo uploader.  I really like the way you can add different albums and that they are easily accessible.  All I have to do is push a button and add multiple photos at once....yum.
3. Easy to update entries.  I can't tell you how long it took me to figure out how to create a simple post using one of the blog sites.  It was so frustrating for someone like me.  I like how facebook has it at the top waiting for an entry.  I can definitely keep up with this and post daily.
4. Fans can easily post comments onto the page and to each photo.  This is a bonus if they should have a specific question about a photo and can even tag onto the photo where they have a question....CLEVER facebook...CLEVER!
5. VIDEOS!!!  Yeah that's the BEST part.  It's sooooooooooooo easy to upload a video of a performance.  I can't wait to upload my first puppet video this weekend.  The other nice thing with the videos is that it has sharing capabilities for friends to be able to share the videos with their friends and so on....great for promoting.

The only bad thing I can really think of is that it is limited to only facebook users.  Yes, you must have a facebook account in order to view the page but you don't HAVE to be a fan to view a public page like the one I created.  I have to say though, facebook is so popular that I don't think this hinders me much for what my purpose is but yes for the general public, it could.  I'm not out to make a profit; however, you CAN add an ad to your business/fan page (with a cost of course) to bring in business if that is your goal.

So for anyone who has wanted to start a website or blog but was intimidated in doing so, why not try facebook out.  Come be a fan of mine to be updated with what I am up to. :D
