Moveable velcro eyes Posted by AvenueQrazy on Nov 08, 2009
I had come up with a great idea for giving a puppet a wider range of expression while watching this

I thought; HEY, why not give him pupils that can be placed anywhere on the eye without glue?!
so i went to joanns and luckily found this!
its 2 inches wide and is incredibly strong. I want to give a charachter disk like bug eyes and have velcro pupils. Here is my first design:
This is just a rough and poorly detailed drawing so I will make its profile less creepy when i get around to building it. I will also use gasket rubber this time, unless its physical properties won't work on this
(should the white part of the eye be the fabric side? or the hooked?)

I would say the eye part be the fabric and the pupil be the hook...best of luck.

Yes you want to use the female or fabric side on the eye itself. If you don't every time you lay your puppet down on a piece of fuzzy fabric it is going to stick to it.

I think ill make the white part hooked, so i may then replace the pupil if the fabric side loses its cling. Im not sure if i want my puppet to be green/turqoise, what do you guys think?

Fabric side is not going to lose it's cling. Believe me you want the white part to be fabric and not hook.

You know what, i believe you guys. All my life ive had this issue where i pull reverse psycology on MYSELF and actually think the wrong thing is right (especially on tests) XP If you guys say so..... also can anyone give suggestions on how to improve my puppets design, i feel like there is something to be desired with it.

I think you puppet is a great design. If you can get the horns and crest to come out clean it will be awesome.
