New creation.. Wolfun the full size mascot Posted by Steve on Nov 09, 2009
Hey whats up folks.. Long time no see.. Crazy last while with moving across the island, buying a new home, settling in, etc.. The things I'm told are for "grown ups" ya know? But hey it did provide me with a full basement and workshop area that I'm finally starting to get setup how I like.. I'll have to look and see if there's a workshop thread to post up some pics in

Recently, the need to hit the streets as a 6' + puppet/mascot has overcome my mind, my energy, and now finally.. My body!! I present to you, Wolfun!

Not sure where this is going yet but I've already started a second project a couple nights ago that I plan on going to tea party and town hall meetings as for exposure I'll upload more pics of Wolfun soon it's 3am and I need to crash!

The parts of the costume are the following:

Head
Sleeves/Gloves
Full feet (made from size 11 slippers w/ claws)
Torso (straps on like football gear but is all foam/fur/strapping

I decided to keep the legs as jeans. I'll make some oversized chopped up looking hulk-styled pants eventually my first attempt came out crap and I chucked them back into the fleece scap bin.  I had made a different set of gloves that had sculpted paperclay based claws but they were just too cumbersome and I felt trapped without the use of my hands. I live in NY so you don't want to leave yourself in TOO vulnerable of a position especially walking around as a huge Wolf My first test out was on Halloween last week and it was fun. But I don't plan on only going out on Halloween LOL.. Oh no.. This is for keeps!

Until I have the time to upload and caption the various pics and updates in the Gallery you can check out the majority of the progress here:

It was a first time thing but a lot of fun to build. I did a lot of things 5-10 times before liking it, ripped out finished pieces. Can't even tell you how many eyes I made but I went through a lot of supplies to get it how I wanted lol..

Next mascot the drawings are done and I'm making a craft paper template to figure out size before I make hard pattern pieces and cut the foam. Started cleaning up the workshop last night I've made a mess of it recently I'll take some pics tonight after round 2 of cleaning..
