Project puppet patterns question... Posted by SCUBASTEVE on Nov 10, 2009
Hi, I got given the Rotondo pattern for my birthday and also a $50.00 voucher for Project puppet. I'm just wondering wether I should grab this Monstro pattern while it's $10 off ( bringing it under $50) or is it a body pattern with a rotondo head? I'm comfortable making a body and hands but I like the idea of learning to get the different effects with the faux fur without having to experiment with expensive fabric.
Does any one have both these patterns to compare the heads? I don't want to break copywrite and see it just tell me if they are basicaly the same...
Once upon a time I would have just bought both but with a growing family (No3 on th way next year!) I don't want to spend $ if they are the same shape, I'd rather pay the difference get the Punto pattern.
I need an answer on this fairly quick as the sale on the Monstro ends soon....
Fingers crossed that some one with both patterns, and the answer, comes online!

I have both patterns and I believe they are different. I havent made the Mostro in a  while so I am only 75% positive. I do know it is a very good pattern and well worth the money- Steve

Hey ScubaSteve, I may be able to answer that for you. The Rotondo head and the Mostro head are only similar in shape (round, spherical shape). The patterns are very different. The Mostro head pattern is more similar to the Roly head pattern, though not an exact match. The Mostro body is different from all the other body shapes available at Project Puppet. Hope that helps!

Thanks guys, (particularly Pasha) I am really holding out for a "Punto, with fabric pattern" special. I had just missed one when I first discovered Project puppet! It would really fit a project I gave in mind, it's the fur info that has me reconsidering...
Quandry is all mine now , I'm not expecting you to answer it, guess it's rhetorical...

Thanks again Guys

Chickened out! Not helped by the fact that I was being solo parent at dinner time right up to the deadline. Funny, then I read a book to my daughters that had these two great monster designs! I can't tell you what it was or authors/illustrators because my 3 yr old insists on sleeping with what ever book she's been read to sleep with.
I'll continue to consider it, guess I should make something with the pattern I have first. (Looks great Pasha)
Thanks again for being there for the enquiry though

By the way, Project Puppet, howis the new monster pattern going-Steve
Re: Project puppet patterns question... Posted by ProjectPuppet on Nov 12, 2009
No problem, ScubaSteve. I'll look into running the Pattern/Add-on sale for ya. I think it's been a while since we had one of those.

And, hey, Monkey (Steve)...that's suppose to be a secret. Since it's out...things are going great. I'm hoping to have it available by the end of next week. I'm currently finishing up the instructions, and I've got to add features to the example puppet. This monster will require two puppeteers...I think you guys can figure out what that means.

Thanks, Pasha. I am looking forward to it. {I am also starting to understand why no one tells me secrets} Steve

Just to let you guys know, the pattern has just been released.

Check it out! The Borsa Puppet Pattern

I'd also like to offer this to the folks here at Puppets and Stuff (exclusively). When a new pattern comes out, we are always looking for good "example puppets". These are not only displayed in the Project Puppet Gallery, but are also on the actual product page. These puppets should be shining examples of character creation and should highlight the versatility of the Project Puppet patterns. (Good pictures are important as well.) So, here's the offer. If you decide to purchase the new monster pattern, and you build a puppet that we can use as an example puppet for the Borsa Pattern, we'll credit your Project Puppet account with the cost of the Borsa. That's a store credit of $55.95 to be spent however and whenever you wish. There's no deadline, but we'll have to limit the offer to the first four puppets that show up as example puppets on the Borsa Pattern page.

We won't offer this anywhere else but here. Not at MC. Not in the newsletter. Just for P&S readers and supporters.

Keep having fun!
