Hey jon what a great little dog you have there.....I actually like the hands you choose over doing fingers so it worked out for the better....well In my opionion of course....lol.

I also use riticulated foam for all my puppets and love it over regular foam....longer shelf life for the puppet.....and all the other benefits stated above it does cost much more but I feel that the benefits really outweight the price difference.

I have never had any complaints about using reticualted foam and hand irritation from others or myself when performing with puppets.

Thanks everyone for you kind comments regarding the Prairie Dog. I'm almost done with another Prairie Dog and hope to finish a third this week.  With Thanksgiving in the mix we'll have to wait and see.

Daryl,  have had several comment that the reticulated foam is scratchy when it rubs against the skin.  Most of the puppets I have built, and from those that I have seen that you have built, don't have a lot of foam to hand contact.  The Prairie Dog does have a section of the foam that is almost continually contacting the back of the hand so I covered that area with some fabric.  As to price I think the quality of the puppet is improved by a better quality foam and I think my skill have improved enough to invest in a better foam so its worth the cost.

Great job Jon.  I too would be interested in their design if you would be willing to share.  From the images it looks like maybe a piece of foam runs along the top of the head and then down the back but that there may not be any on the front (tummy) of the puppet.  So did you dye your terry cloth or where you able to find it in those colors.  You choices and combination's of colors is great.

Thanks guys, grandpa is my favorite too...so far.

I'm working on some videos of the build. I'm hoping to have them done in a few weeks.

As for the fabric...I'm glad you like the color choices but no I didn't dye my own fabric. I just went to walmart and bought some towels. They have a lot of color choices.
