The book is "Animal Puppetry" By H.W. Whanslaw.  It covers everything from insects to gryphons. Steve

Yep dryer hose is pretty cool stuff.... don't forget about slinky's also.  They are similar in design but often come in smaller sizes and they move just a bit different then a dryer hose.

Er, sorry, I meant... what is it?

Thanks! I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for it, I've only managed to find one or two of the more popular books by Whanslaw here in Oz on rare occasions.

Dryer hose is a piece of wire "curled" much like a slinky that is covered in a plastic or metal like "fabric" to make a tube. They are used to vent the exhaust from your dryer to outside.

no sé si aún te hará falta. precisamente yo voy a empezar un puppet de delfín esta misma semana y he encontrado éste patrón en internet. concretamente en
http://nuno-runo.blogspot.com.es/2010/09/dolphin.html
y estoy segura de que se puede adaptar a un puppet, sobretodo por la forma de la boca

sorry! I did it only in spanish

still do not know if you'll need. I'll just start a dolphin puppet this week and I found this pattern on the internet. specifically

http://nuno-runo.blogspot.com.es/2010/09/dolphin.html

and I'm sure that can be adapted to a puppet, especially for the shape of the mouth

Thanks for that link - it's a great looking tutorial/pattern! It's tempting to go and make one ....

Looks like the pattern would be easy to adapt. The Sunny Puppet company puppets have the entrance hole at the bottom.

Yes this pattern should work good for a puppet.  Do the pink felt part as the mouth plate and then put an entrance on the bottom like Billy mentioned.   To figure out where you would want the hole in the bottom to be place your hand so it would be in the mouth then measure back to where your elbow hits on the puppet.  That is the best placement for the entrance hole.  That way you get some control over the body of the puppet.

I'm making now a shark puppet. It had to be a dolphin but it didnt't seem as one, so I went into making a sharl instead. Next one will be the dolphin, maybe in light blue or gray instead that dark one.
