I've waited forever to join this universe and am now going to attempt my first puppet using a pattern from Jon Clayburn.  (Thanks, Jon)!

Welcome to Puppets and Stuff Patrick. Taking pictures of each step of your puppet build can be very rewarding now and in the future. Keep accurate notes of things that take place during the puppet build like had to change upper jaw...etc. Look forward to seeing pictures. If we can be of help let us know.

Right around Quakertown - just north of Philly.  Printed the head pattern from Jon and now have to get some material to start with.  Think I'll go to Joanns fabric (saw they had some very thin foam pieces that may be good for looking at the head and figuring out the mechanics.).

Should I be coating the 2 halfs of the head wiht fleece before connecting them?  I guess maybe I should wait for the foam book to start.

No, you normally glue your foam together then cover them with fleece.  Of course I don't have the pattern you do from Jon so I could be wrong.

As to covering the foam.  First assemble the basic head shape with the mouth assembly glued in place before attempting to cover the head with fleece.
