Hello,
Hope everyones making lots of puppets.
Im looking for advice on sewing machines, obviously one which will sew antron fleece & fur.
The one I have at the moment isnt working and I need something more sturdier.
If anyone could advice on one it would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Daniel

I've been looking for a new one myself and have decided on a Janome Memory Craft 6500p. My current sewing machine, an old 1970's Sears Kenmore, hates fleece and fur as well.

We had a brief discussion about sewing machines on Monday during Stiqpuppets live. It was determined to look at the Janome or Pfaff brands, and to stay away from Swinger and Brother.

Hello I was looking at a brother machine but Janome does seem sturdier.
With puppet building you need something that can cope with the thick fabrics!
Let me know how your new machine goes.

I have a Janome and really love the brand.....one feature to look for which I think is the best bonus is the needle down position....you press the button and it keeps the need always in the down position when you stop sewing....very handy when doing sharp corners or rounded areas.  I would not really recommend Brother for a long term investment.  I have a memory craft 3000 if you can find one used it is one amazing machine.

Good luck with your purchase.....

Just got my new Janome yesterday, and I am in love. The machine is working very well with fleece.

Hey,
I got the Janome 5018. It doesnt do all the fancy embroidery things, but I dont need that - I only use the straight stitch. Its great so far and copes well with antron fleece and fur. Janomes a great make and wasnt too expensive either.

Cheers,
Daniel
