Design for my first puppet Posted by Kai2010 on Jan 05, 2010
Hi everyone,
i finished the design for my first puppet.
First i have to say that the puppets design is based on a real living person.
Her name is Cindy and she is a famous comedian in germany.
I hope my puppet will look like my drawing when i finished her.

Ok folks here are the first pictures of Cindy.
When i close her mouth the face gets to wide and i have to close the mouthplate carefully.
when the pressure is to much on the right side on the mouthplate, her right cheek will curve inwards ( picture5 ).
The plate fits accurately in her mouth (I used Jon's method to get a pattern for the mouthplate).
Maybe it just need a little bit of fabric to pull the mouth backwards.

The head looks great.
Often heads have that dimple at the edge of the mouth when it is in the closed position. It's not bad to have the dimple, sometimes you might want it. Right now I am working on a head where I am trying to remove that dimple. For this head I just don't want it.
I might suggest that you widen the mouth plate a little toward the back this might help you get rid of it. At the same time it will widen the head which might shift it out of round. Play with the design till you find the look you're trying to create.
