New Builder/Designer Here in Nashville, TN Posted by Michael Poindexter on Jan 12, 2010
Hello everyone.  I've been building for a very short while and just found this site.  It looks excellent!  I've already found some useful information about glues that I had been looking for.

Here is the link to my first (and, as of now, my only) puppet - Maurice Knucklehead.

Your first Puppet!  Nice work!

Great little clip you have there....I like the voice and you have pretty good eye contact with the camera.

Can't to see more in the future.

Thanks ya'll.

I learned enough to build that puppet trying to land a job with a local puppet building company - Animax Design.  They do really nice work.

I'm an unemployed architect with a fine arts background.  I am now specializing as a Mr. Mom and doing all I can to supplement the family income between delivering and picking up my children from school.

I'm trying to keep up designing and building puppets to get some contract work.  Even if puppet building doesn't make money for me now, it is still a really inexpensive way to develop a skill and is fascinating fun.

I post up some sketches later.

Thanks again for the encouragement.

Thanks.  I just freestyled the head based on what I got from the Red Panda video that Thistledown posted and some other information I got off the web.

This forum is great.  My knowledge has doubled just since I found this site today.

Hi Micheal,
the puppet looks great.
Did you make the drawings in the video? I like them.
For me (i am a german) its very hard to understand every word from the video.
But it sounds very funny and he seems a bit uppity.
Cool.

Welcome to Puppets and Stuff.  I hope you don't stop at just one puppet.  Maurice is a wonderful character.  I want to see more wonderful characters come out of your workshop.
