Re: Devil puppet Posted by miguel on Jan 22, 2010
Could you show us how you did?
Re: Devil puppet Posted by Shawn on Jan 23, 2010
Miguel if you look back at the first image he posted of Franky you can kind of tell what he did.
It looks like he cut out different shapes of foam and glued them on top of the base shape. The nose looks to be two pieces glued down the bridge of the nose then attached to the face. If he works the way I do then I bet his cuts on the edge of the foam are done on an angle so that foam can be glued down snug to the face. Same thing on the nose if you cut the foam on an angle down the bridge line then it would create the two sides of a triangle when glued together. The face makes the last side of the triangle.
I thought that might help if I am right since English is not Kai2010 first language.

Ok I made a little drawing to show you how I build up Frankys face.
Step 1
Its important that you make a little sketch how the face should look after build up.
Its easier to build from a sketch than from mind.
Step 2
Draw some guide lines on your foam head. They will make shure that you draw symetrical.
Also draw where the eyes would be placed.
Step 3
Now you draw the area that makes the cheeks. Inside this area you draw the same area but a little smaller.
Pin a sheet of paper to the face hold it against a light source. So you will see the lines you have drawed and can trace it on the paper.
Step 4
Cut the shapes out of the paper and transfer the shapes on your foam.
You will need 2 of the smaller shape and 1 of the big shape. Cut it out.
Step 5
Glue the smaller pieces together. After that glue that sandwich on the face where you dawed it.
Step 6
Now you have to put some glue on the edges of the big shape. Also put some glue on the face. But just where you draw the lines for that big shape.
Step 7
Now attach the edges of the foam shape to the glued lines on the face. The smaller innner foam sandwich will keep the cheek up.
Its important that you overdo a little with the hight of the area you want to build up. Because the fleece will push it down when you cover it.
I hope you understand what I mean with this little tutorial.
Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
@Shawn
Thanks, you where close to my method.
