Wrapped with wire...
Have to go to Home Depot tomorrow to see if they have the rubber covering stuff and to see if they have the piano wire that Shawn suggested.  I know the RC Shop has it -I build airplanes too...

I didn't have a chance to get there today.

In my experience neither Home Depot or Lowes will have either plastic dip or piano wire in size I use, 3/32". I have had to go to real hardware stores like Ace or True Value to find it.

Thanks for the info...we do have an Ace a few minutes from Home Depot...so I will hit that first.

THanks,

The home depot near where I live carries plastidip in several different colors. The have it stocked in the paint department.
Re: Arm Rod Attachment Posted by Matt on Jan 24, 2010
The paint department? I will have to check. I have searched every other part of Home Depot for it. It would figure the one place in the store I would assumed wouldn't have it, does.

I have those same rods on one of my earlier puppets that I made and they are not good at all.....the wood handles get loose in no time at all.....the idea of gluing them in place may be better.....from experience the method that I show on my video (which will be up this week...no matter what) is the most common and reliable for long term use.  I also found from experience that using round dowels are easier than the square ones.

Hope this helps with more ideas on future rod making......

Daryl,

I'm going to wait for your video before I finish the arm rods.

THanks,

Daryl,

Are they permanent mount?

Dennis

The ones I show are permanent.......I am trying to figure out a method that I can share that will make them removable but this will give you a good idea on the requirements of making a rod.
