what is the big different in patterns from project puppet Posted by gompie on Jan 27, 2010
Can  somebody explain what the difference is between the simple series and the forma series. In the little pictures the look the same when I look to the shape. I decided that I am going to buy basic head patterns that I can use for a lot of different puppets. Human and animals.
My birthday is in a few days (now for real) and I asked money so I can order patterns but I can't buy them all so I have to decided which one I really want.
What I like is the rontondo head or roly head, puntohead or pinhead, and the melonhead and maybe the glorified sock puppet. Can somebody give advice to me...........

I'm not sure if i can be any help, but from my experience, the simple series patterns are patterns that you use to make a puppet head out of fabric and are very straightforward (you could make a puppet from one in just a few hours) whereas the forma series are patterns that you construct a head out of sheet foam and are slightly more complicated (in a good way) but produce, in my opinion, a better puppet and more to create upon, and you can buy the fleece head covering pattern for most of them too!! the glorified sock puppet pattern is absolutely brilliant and there are an awful lot of possibilities in it, so if you where going for something that you an get cheaply, but use alot, then this is a great one to purchase!! but don't just take my word for it, because i have also seen some amazing puppets made from the other patterns!!
hope this helps,
Ben.

Its big different, but still all are good to work with!

Simple series are skull(Just top) and mouth plate base(Separate). The forma, is the complete skull. You don't need to put or attach botton mouth, because is all together in one piece.

Hope you could understand what I wrote.

@miguel

The simple series contains only the pattern for the foam head and the forma series contains the pattern for the hole foam puppet in one piece?
Are you shure?

This is just my opinion    If you are just starting out in the puppet building process the Simple Series are patterns designed for easy construction. It is a smaller type puppet designed to fit on the hand. If you have some knowledge of basic puppet skills but want to advance to another level then the Forma Series are the ones to choose. These patterns give you the skills to make a quality larger puppet using the different shaped patterns. All Project Puppet patterns are excellent patterns. The instructions are easy to follow and come with step by step photos.

@ Kai: Both have pattern for body and head. But, when I said what I said, I was refering just the head. Simple series is top head and botton mouth(To attach together). But, forma serie the head is one piece!

Hopefully you understand better now!

@miguel
Ah, now I understand what you meant.
I think you mean "bottom" not "botton"
