Blacklight puppet show!! Posted by Bhanu on Jan 30, 2010
I saw my first blacklight puppet show in my city
yesterday evening. Perhaps for the first time in the city.
It was awesome. You can chek the utube promo
link at

I need to know how the light source is used
in case of shadow puppets? I mean where do
you keep the lights?

Na..thanks for your web site for useful info
on making blacklight puppets plus I like
your idea of testing for florescent materials
before starting the puppets. Use of Flo paints
also sounds good esp for shadow puppets. I
want to try out if I could get some info on the
placement of light source.

Cheers

To use blacklight with shadow puppets you need a translucent screen and the blacklight goes in front of the screen.

I've actually done it with the blacklight behind the screen; although yes, it does work better from in front. See this video:

Thanks Na....that was a beautiful butterfly video
using black light concept..I will try both & see the
impact. I have to first get the right materials here
in India. Have you painted the butterfly with flo paint?

That was a great video.  Thanks for sharing.  Love Blacklight!!!  Wildfire paints are also an excellent source of fluorescent paints.  Costly but excellent.

Thanks, glad you liked it. The butterfly is a combination of white cardboard and orange neon paint.
