Hi Ann, let me add my welcome to P&S. This is a great place for folks to learn, everyone is incredibly generous with sharing their knowledge and experience. What kind of puppet show are you hoping to do?
Hey Chris! The puppet show I am doing is a music video with the puppets being mostly basketball players! I'll probably be just buying most of the puppets for this show and not building them from scratch cos I want to get it done soon. I will be building some of my own props and sets though and I am so thankful I found this forum!!! I'm really excited! I've never done anything like this before! I have the song written and mostly recorded and mixed. Now I have to find clothes for the puppets or make clothes!!! Can't wait!

Anyone else starting to look at just about anything and finding yourself wondering how it could be incorporated into a puppet? LOL
Yes, it is hard to grocery shop when the lady in front of you has a fur hat on and fuzzy sweater with big white buttons. I know what you are talking about.

I often find myself wandering through a store thinking exactly that and then when the clerk asks me what I am looking for I think, "Do I tell her the truth, or do I make something up." I have noticed that when I tell the truth I either have an enthusiastic, "Wow, that is interesting tell me more about what you do!" or the clerk goes running screaming from the store (OK, slight exaggeration but you know what I mean). There is never an in-between response! I figure it is my responsibility to expose everyone who is "foam-impaired" to what they are missing by not participating in puppetry!

Hahahahaha funny I get very similar responses! I was just at the store buying more boas and eyes and whatnot and the clerk says "getting ready for Mardi Gras?" I said, "nope, making puppets" and her eyes just lit up and she became very interested in talking to me about how she too almost got into puppetry or something.
By the way, does anyone know if the music from Avenue Q is available on CD?
