Hey

I'm very new to the puppet process and wanted to introduce myself, I'm from queensland, australia which makes it very hard to learn about puppet making and the process but i'm tryin and enjoying it very much.

Cheers

Hey Spatch! Welcome!

Yep, I'm in Melbourne, Australia - if you need any help finding out about the local industry, let me know. Always glad to see more fellow Aussies getting into puppetry

You will find a way. Here in Holland I don't know many puppetbuilders but you can order books and dvd's from America. Only the shipping is expensive but you can order a few at once.

This is very true, and I thank my lucky stars I have an Amazon referral page on my site. I never have to pay for puppetry books now, and I've been very lucky to have good enough fees to pay both for the book itself and for the shipping. Best of all, I've gotten my hands on some great books that you'll never find here in Australia. (Unfortunately, our theatre section, even at Borders, is a copy of The Lion King or Cirque du Soleil, or Wicked, and if you're lucky, a few popular plays. It's almost impossible to even find a book published in Melbourne by prominent Aussie puppeteers earlier in the decade).

Unfortunately, as well, the two best receptacles for books on puppetry reside in my home town: libraries at local universities.

Queensland's just too far away!
