Hey Larry, welcome to Puppets and Stuff. Just wondering if you could give a few more details on what you are looking for in the way of puppets? Are you wanting puppets to do a show or are you looking to find a puppet builder who can design puppets that you can sell along with the other merchandise on your site?

Dear Shawn,
Thank you for your response. Presently, I am producing DVDs based upon specific stories that I have written about individual SunPower KidzĀ® characters. My first inclination was to hire a top notch animation company to complete this project. However, this became extremely expensive and well out of the budget. Therefore, I embarked on completing the labor intensive project myself. Recently, I was introduced to a puppeteer find this alternative approach very intriguing. To complete the story presentation using the quality puppets of a Sesame Street or someone like Steve Axtell is intriguing. However, I don't know if it is possible financially or artistically. Further discussions would offer me some idea of this possibility.
Your second proposal is rather interesting. I am always looking for additional merchandise to sell. Such things have been done through intellectual property arrangements as I am neither a manufacturer or distributor. Puppets would be a fantastic way of introducing the SunPower KidzĀ® into the various outlets of education for children, however, I do not have those kinds of contacts. Certainly the puppets would have greater traction if the DVDs were completed.
I hope this has answered your questions. I would be happy to entertain further discussion. Thank you for your time.

Larry, welcome to P&S. It's so exciting when people use the power of puppets to reach beyond their ability to entertain. You're characters are wonderful. You must be very please with the bisque rendering of Penelope. I can't wait to see how the others turn out. I think these characters would make great puppets. But more important that the character design is the story telling. If you don't have a good story you'll loose the attention and no matter what the media. You've got a great concept I'd love to see them put together in a story.

Thanks Jon for your kind words. All the stories have been written and editorialized. Just trying to get a feel whether to go with conventional animation or the consideration of using puppets. Puppets look like an intriguing alternative. Larry

Larry,
I don't think you should rule out either option. Actually depending on the direction SunPower Kidz takes, you could have video DVD etc that is animation but then perhaps live appearances would be done with puppets.

Shawn, in the best of both worlds, I would agree with you. Puppets are completely new to me. What I've been exposed to, in a rapid crash course, over the past 2-3 weeks, I realize that puppets could be a great alternative to 3d animation because of the costs incurred. I just created a very active blog piece regarding obesity and the first lady. It's reaction might just produce interested parties once they realize the potential of the brand.
