I plan on posting photos as I go along.
We are also thinking of doing a tongue that sticks out but that dynamics is a bit harder to manage. (Think a party favor that when you blows it un ravels. But how to activate it while mouth is in open position is beyond me right now.

Tongue....First I would take the party horn apart and insert are thin plastic tube where the horn was.  Cover the favor with light tongue colored fabric.  Run the plastic tube down the throat and attach it to a nose syringe bulb.  Not sure if that's what it's called, but you use it to clean out the nose of a baby.  You can get them at Walmart or any pharmacy. It works.  I've used that method on a dog puppet.  I'll see if I have photos.  This was a blacklight puppet operated kind of like a marionette, but the concept is still the same.

I was thinking the same thing BUT i was trying to figure out how to make it work with the hand working the mouth to squeeze the bulb which would be difficult to do with mouth open (hand position wise). But I didn't think about the other hand. Great idea!.

I know you said "moving" eyes but here is a video tutorial on "blinking" eyes...its the same thing Billy D. Fuller said but this is a video... http://puppeteersunite.com/?page_id=588
I am using this idea on one of my puppets this summer
