Hi all, Stores in town carry DAP Weldwood cement in stock and since it's cheaper than Barges, I want to know how it compare to barges?
Any thoughts?

They are about the same. I use Dap gel.................... It all smells.

I agree with Billy that for puppet use either brand is fine.  Now if I was repairing the rubber on a dance shoe, that would be another story.   Barge gives a stronger bond when working with leather. 

I know that a couple of contact cement companies are coming out with water based cements- don't use them- had to return one I bought because it doesn't dry as fast, the adhesive is not as sticky and it still smells. 

What's the difference between DAPS classic and Gel?

I like the Gel because it is easier to spread. Holding power and dry time seem to be about the same.

Haven't seen the gel. Where did you find it?

Lowes and home depot both carry it.

Just don't get it mixed up with your hair gel LOL
