Hello Everyone Posted by JumpNPuddles on Mar 17, 2010
Hello

I just came across this site today and I have found some great resources for our site.  I have asked the owner for permission to link to this forum and he has graciously accepted.  I have added the link to this forum today.

A short introduction...
My wife and I started a web site 3 years ago selling puppets, we started out building a web site and adding product.  It took 7 months to get everything like we wanted and off we went.  It has been beyond our wildest dreams as far a growth and fun.  We really wanted to do it correct so we had writers add little comments about our puppets.  Same puppets could be purchased all over the web so we thought if we had better graphics and a 800 number that some one really answered it would set us apart.  We have been well received and have many great customers now.

We pride ourselves in 100% customer satisfaction and a great web experience.  We have 4 grown children and 2 grand children and one of the joys is introducing our grandchildren to new puppets as we get them.  We are going to visit our grandson this weekend and we are taking one of our new Fraggel Rock puppet to him.

A Favor from this forum
I don't ever want to come across as only wanting to promote www.JumpNPuddles.com although that is a nice benefit this forum offers.  As I have reviewed several topics and links you all have great puppet knowledge and most of our puppets are for a more casual puppeteer.  It is very difficult finding the next level puppets.  The real professional ones.  We have some but not many.

If any of you know of people that would be willing to make puppets to wholesale to us we are always looking for new stuff.  I am working with a man in Australia now to try to put a deal together.  We are looking for quality puppets with a unique look.  We would need enough in stock that we could fill orders as we ship same day Monday to Friday, no less than 3 of any style.

If you know of anyone that might fill the bill please PM me.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Er, not to pry but - there's a man in Australia doing lots of puppets? I'd love a link if you can - I collect info about my fellow puppeteers (er, not to sound stalkerish, I just mean I try to learn about my local industry)

Are you taking just one kind of puppets or are you including everything?

(Slight comment to everyone else, but also to you - why do all big American (and others) puppet superstores offer everything *but* shadow puppets? Marionettes, glove puppets, muppets, and finger puppets, yes - but shadow puppets no? Is there not enough of a market for them?)

Welcome Mark to Puppets and Stuff!  Great introduction, I see you are going to be a great contributor to the community!

Higher end professional puppets can be difficult to offer in a step up like yours.  As  rule they are one of a kind and purchased by commission. It would be great if you and someone like Sonny could connect and be able to work out the logistics of offer such a product.

Na would be a great resource for Shadow Puppets and I agree with here that you don't often see them for sell. I think it is because people can't envision how to use them in a mass market environment. One idea that comes to my mind would be to market them to school teachers.  A small shadow screen set up with a group of shadow puppets that can be used to tell the story of a current book that teachers are reading to their students.  I think you would need to keep the shadows simple, Na so even a teacher would feel they could operate them.  Just a glimmer of an idea but thought I would throw it out there.

Again welcome to Puppets and Stuff Mark!

(also the gallery page has videos and a link to my Flickr pics)

Please ignore everything but the shadow puppets. I'm decommissioning all the other products, as from now on I'll be working exlusively in that area.
