well I was thinking of using Punch to play Tom Bombadil, and i'm using one Warrior for Boromir and all other human men, etc.

I dont know what ou mean by PEM though.

Never mind.  So Tom Bombadil beats Saruman?  Seems like an OK ending to me!

Yeah. Its for the SCA, so I admit I'm torn between being more medieval/proper or giving into my severe urge to do a bunch of pop culture references (IE, Happy Birthday Song at the beginning, Tom singing 'Happy Happy Joy Joy'...) and stuff.
Re: Five minute 'Epic' scripts.... Help? Posted by Abdolos on Mar 23, 2010
My feeling is that the more pop-culture references there are, the less effective they are.  Keep it down to just a few and they'll "pop" more.  Whoops, I just punned!  Also, if you haven't already, you should consider who your audience is.  While I may appreciate the "Happy Happy Joy Joy" song, it's a little out of date.  Then again, so am I;  I wouldn't know how to make a current pop reference.  Really, it's up to you, but as a discerning audience member I would rather that you held my attention with your own wit than some borrowed from elsewhere.
BTW:  I looked at your sketches, and I'd just like to note that an arm rod for a hand holding a dagger should connect at something like a right angle to the blade, not in line with it.  Makes for better stabbing.

The one comment I have on adding pop references to the play, would be in line with what Abdolos mentioned.  You need to be sure of your audience.  I know that many SCA groups try to stay very true to the period they are representing then others are much more lax. While I have never been to a festival in California I understand that there are a couple there that are very strict.   Is the target group just your fellow members or is this more on a national level?

Its the local baronys' bardic championship, Although I am not THAT determined to win either.

I'll toss in one or two and resist the rest.

I have added a free puppet scripts area to our web site.

I have contacted several authors already.  If you would like us to list your scripts we would love to do it.

Point me in the direction were we can view your scripts and I will get busy.  We may not use or list all scripts.

Beowulf...Long lengthy story, but when you break it down there are only a few major events that make up the content of the story. The way I see it is a punch type puppet narrating while there is a shadow puppet reinactment going on at the same time.
