You're right, Na. I did think the pupils weren't right. My son wanted a kind of goofy look and actually requested that, but one of the things I will definitely change with the next one is the way the pupils are aimed. (If I still had access to the puppet I don't think I could resist repositioning them!) I also prefer the eyes and nose a little lower on the skull. The trial puppet I did right before Rotundo had them just a little too low and I over-corrected this time.
Isn't it amazing how tiny changes in the positioning of the facial features can change the puppet's personality?

I like the eye focus on him. I think it lends to his character. I know that there is a lot of talk about pupils and correct focus but I wonder if sometimes we are too perfect in our puppet building. The puppets I like the most that I have built are pretty imperfect.
Great puppet.... just going to watch the video now. Thanks for taking the time to do that and posting it!

I agree with Shawn...................... depending on what look you are going for...................... placing slightly off centered can create all different types of expressions. When I look at this guy he looks like he just walk up on someone stealing his mango juice back at his camp site. I guess you have to play it by ear ( that's another story which can change the character to.) LoL

My son always says, "Just claim to be expressing artist interpretation." And I agree that it does sort of add to his character.

Great job on the how to video. I love how you used the Easter eggs for both the eyes and nose; and the belly button is a great idea. You've really captured the essence of the character with this puppet. I can imagine him in action. Great Job.

Are the eggs you used for the body foam rubber or styrofoam?
