Urethane foam Posted by foppa on Apr 22, 2010
Just wondering if anyone can help me, I'm using this foam for the body of a puppet and I'm having a tough time with the foam bonding together. I used a glue gun and i got three quarters of the seam to close. Also, I tried Fabric-tac and the same results.Do you think I should try contact adhesive?

I normally use contact cement, but the fumes are toxic. I don't like glue gun as a rule for seems but I have used Fabric-Tac and it normally works very well. The secret with both though is that you have to hold the seam together while the glue bonds. With contact cement you don't have to do this. Work slower in shorter runs if you use FT or GG. Maybe work 1-2 inches at a time so you can hold the seam together. The other option depending on where the seam is would be to grab some clothespins and straight pins that you can use to hold the seam in place while the glues set.

Like Shawn said contact cement. Swab up both pieces, let them get tacky and hold them together for a short while until they adhere. Stiq uses a hair dryer to shorten up the dry period. You can find a good contact cement at Menards or Home Depot for under $10.

You can use 3-M's spray glue for foam too.
