new puppets Posted by LJ on Apr 28, 2010
My son finished four more puppets for our community puppet theatre. I have the pictures of three of them and then pictures with the "before" heads. The king is awaiting his crown and then I will share pictures of him.

Very cool! Are the heads and hands paper mache' or something else?

Here are some pictures of the dragon too.
The heads are carved from styrofoam and then covered with cheese cloth and tissue paper (paper mache' style). Then he painted them. The dragon is carved from poly foam and covered with cheese cloth then painted.

I am so jealous that I was not born in to a puppet family. It looks like much fun at your house.

Actually our children were not born into a puppet family - they caused us to become a puppet family! My husband and I followed their lead and it has been WONDERFUL!! We feel very blessed to have this common bond among us! (some families become sports families because of their children's activities, we became a theatre/puppet family because that is what they were interested in and we were only too happy to join in!)

I love the puppets.............The Dutch puppets are great I recognise the Volendammer style in them. Did you used the book I send you a couple of month ago ? Wonderful I love it I love it. It is so pity I can't see your show.

Awesome puppets LJ. You definitely have a very talented family. It's great to have something you all enjoy doing and can actually do it together if you want. My family is the same way. I caught Puppet Fever from my kids.

Not sure how I missed this post, this is really great work! I would love to go see a live marionette style puppet show, one day :'(
(assuming you add string to these? or do you?)

These are hand/glove style puppets like the traditional Punch and Judy. They are fun to work with but very different from the Muppet style puppets!
