Walk About Ant Posted by Out of the Box Puppets on May 09, 2010
This is a project I finished recently.  Things are crazy busy here....sorry I haven't posted lately.  The blinking eyes are based on Dr. Puppets blinking mech. video.  Well worth it if you haven't purchased it yet.

Very cool walk around puppet!  The eyelids and base of eyes, is that a high dense foam like EVA or Velora or is it foam core?  Perhaps that is part of the video and I should just go download them.

Wonderful! Is he for a show you are doing or for a customer? Looks like a fun puppet to work too!!

The face is regular 1" polyfoam, but the eye plate and lids are sintra.  Jay suggests styrene, but I was not able to find the styrene locally, but I can get a good supply of sintra.  The eyelids also have black craft foam to create the definition of the lid.

Yes, the ant is for a customer in Canada.  They like to take the puppets into the audience to dance around etc...

Here is a side view.

Each of the four arms have rods that snap into the wrist for additional puppeteers to operate.
