Welcome to Puppets and Stuff................................ May I suggest that you tell us a bit more about yourself and the project you are working on. Hair for your puppet can be made using all types of materials depending on what look you are going for. Could you explain what your poll is for?

You could use a long fake fur like this from Mendel's http://www.mendels.com/fur2.shtml
you could also use yarn and  stiffen it with fabric stiffener
Link no longer available. The sky is the limit. Please post pictures of your build as it progresses.

This may be of help for you hair answers I also have another video with lots of talk about different types of hair, I think it is still on my blogtv account click on the box on the left colum it will take you there and the video's are below....this video is using ostrich fringe feathers you can sew them standing up to make it stand up.....you would have to order this stuff through mail but on this same puppet I have it standing up in the back to give it a full round hair look to it.......

Now quickly to the hair makers!

The hair can be made from different materials (wool, fur, hemp, etc.). The best way to measure the length from the wig on the head and then wraps wool for a book (the wider the book, the longer the hair). The hair on one side cut open with scissors, the same color on a fabric tape laid end to end and close it down with the sewing machine.

All the best .....

You could use fake fur and some hair spray.  Here are some other past threads on the subject of hair that may give you some ideas.

OPPS... I just realized Billy already mentioned fake fur.  My bad!  Really you can use just about anything for hair even a brillo pad.  The possibilities are endless.

these are all great suggestions. Daryl H. , would you tell me where you get the ostridge fringe from? a website?

Here are a couple...I got mine from tonyhill in the links below.  I would suggest that you type in google "Ostrich Fringe Feathers" and see if you can find one closer to you to save on shipping.
