Hie everyone, I've been pretty busy creating a new batch of puppets. I'm almost finished and was going to be spending next week designing clothes patterns for them all... BUT I just found this really cool website that has tons of free patterns!
They're all in PDF format so what I will do is figure out the sizing by the viewing %, then just put thin paper up to the monitor and trace off the pattern pieces, saves so much time.
They have patterns for girls, boys, men, women and the categories include tops, jackets, pants, skirts, dresses, shorts, raincoats, shirts, blouses, vests. Just what my naked puppets need  .
Of course, if you want to make clothes for yourself you just download your size and print as is. Have fun!

where do you find the patterns everything I click on says no pattern available for download.

I was going to mention that, i start from the bottom, there are a lot of patterns, really there are, you just have to plough through it all, here's the number of some that i have downloaded, just put them in the 'search' box on the upper right of the page and they will come up, hope this helps :

FYI: If you don't want to trace off the screen, lol, you can size the % you want (in acrobat of course) then click on 'tools' 'select & zoom' and 'snapshot tool'. Assuming you have Microsoft Office 2007? Using the 'Publisher' program create a banner of maybe 36" x 36" or less, so you can grab a snap shot of each piece of the pattern and drop them in MS Publisher and print,mmm, after my explanation it seems infinitely easier to just trace of the screen, lol.
And there are those of you that probably know how to print the % you want straight from acrobat too, right, i've never been able to get that done, my ideal size for printing for my large puppets is 43%, but I just cant get acrobat to print that size, sigh

You can use a program called proposter. It has a free evaluation version which is enough for resizing patterns. In this thread you can find a link to download From a picture, you just resize at your convenience and it allows you to print in as much A4 papers as necessary; then you just need to glue them together

Thanks for the info Jorge, I downloaded it and i'm using it now, its a great program. I just take a full snapshot of the pattern pieces and paste it straight from the clipboard to the poster program. It's on sale this month too, for just 19.95, so I may buy at the end of the trial. (Thanks to Shawn Sorrel too )

Ok, I'm ready to sew now, printed out 8 patterns with pictures and instructions, should be fun!

Also, I found this site with pdf's for American Girl dolls clothes, I downloaded the "Molly's Pretty Clothes' one, for the jumper/pinafore dress, whatever you would call it. I can adapt the size to suit. Maybe you'll find something you like too?

Btw, i'm wondering just how big these American Girl dolls are, the 100% size for the patterns seem very big!!

Actually if I am remembering the dolls correctly the patterns should fit a standard puppet pretty well.  In fact if anything I would have thought they would be a bit small.

PS.  Give this page a look: http://www.knitting-and.com/knitting/tips/doll-sizes.htm  The dolls are 18" (457 mm) tall which should be about right.  The link above is a chart with the other measurements of the doll.  That may help you figure what might need to change if anything.  The neck is only 6.5" (165 mm) which might be a bit tight depending on the pattern.
