strolling puppet stage help please. Posted by BiZcut on Jun 10, 2010
In my usual latenight thumbing through of you tube I ran across some vids with strolling puppet stages. They look pretty neat and I think it would not be hard to make. So with that in mind does anyone know where i can find some plans for some. I would much rather see if others have put something out to follow before I start trying this on my own and run into the same mistakes that others have just to waste money on some thing that may have been said how to avoid. any help would be great thanks.

Walkabout puppet stage, Strolling puppet stage, Walkaround backpack stage are just some of the names of these type stages. These stages are made using back packs, pvc, and yes hula hoops. these are common with Punch and Judy style puppet shows

One Way Street has a book on stage plans....... In the book on page 27 it has the plans for a " Walkaround Backpack stage "

You might convert a doorway stage into a walk about by adding three sides and putting on a PVC frame

I have instructions from a Puppet Productions workshop I attended years ago. Since the company is out of business, I am not sure about copyrights.  I know some former employees took over some of their stuff. If Shawn thinks it is OK I will be happy to post them here.
I also have another set of instructions somewhere. Will keep looking for those.

See if you can contact the new owners about copyright.  More then likely it is ok.

that would be awsome.

I have been thinking that I could go by a army surplus store and get a alice pack frame they have both shoulder straps and a waist strap. use that as a base and build the rest out of pvc pipe.
