There is a really neat puppet on ebay. Would love to know how the mouth is done.

I'd be more worried about the 'free odors'! :P

Looks like a regular muppet-style build to me. With the addition of lips of course.

Ms Puppet.................... the Ebay puppet listed looks like a puppet previously owned by one of our members here at P&S Wanlu. He is from the Philippines. I'm not sure if he makes them or he has them made. Here are some more creations. I know he has sold copies of the Old man here on Puppets and Stuff.

Yes I am pretty sure it is made pretty much like other puppets.  The thing that makes the mouth unique looking is the fact that jowls or checks are added on each side that come down over the sides of the mouth so it looks like it is not as wide as a normal hand in mouth puppet.

It has a more sculptured look to the face. Is this done by layering foam and sculpting it to get that look?

Well it could be sculpted but you could also get the look by layering sheets of foam. The end result looks pretty smooth so they could have used a layer of batting over things before the put the fabric skin on. He is very well made. Notice you can barely see any seams and stitching that you do see like around the mouth is very clean and uniform.

You know the more I look at the pictures, I think there is also the possibility that this one is some type of cast plastic "skull that has had the fabric skin stretched over it.

That is very possible......................... I believe that is the way Wanlu makes the Cable controlled mask. So it would make sense for a puppet to be made this way.

Sweet Billy!

The ebay puppet is so much more detailed than mine.  It's really beautiful.  The detail work is amazing  Everything with time and practice.  Hope so anyway.

KONY has puppets on his site that are similar to the two old guys off the muppet show.  Maybe he can chime in here with some tips.

I have made puppets using the foam layer method, but as Julie said, the details are what makes this so neat.
