You may want to look up needle sculpting for the toes. Peanut's toes are made that way, so basically the pattern is a sock-like shape, with the toe definition made with thread. I'll see if I can find a good tutorial later.

thanks maya

As Shawn said - draw the hands/feet on first, then sew directly on the line. If you use a sewing machine, sew slowly, this will help you when stitching curved areas like toes.
It mostly takes practice, so don't give up!

@Cody - guys probably give you better advice but when I was sewing Peanut's hands and feet I just had two halves of his hands and feet and pinned them to foam then started to sew. I didn't make a sock and then pulled it on foam, but it may probably be more easy for you.
@Na - I love it here. There is no summer right now (was in Poland when I was leaving my country) and we have a rainy day today in Sydney but the WINTER in NSW is similar to SUMMER in England (that's why I wanted to runaway from there finally). For you, Aussies, seeing kangragoo or koala is nothing special I guess, but believe me, I fell in love with those animals, hehe. At the moment I'm studying and need to find a job (I'm to lazy...) but once my school is finished I will start travelling all over Aussie (and will fly to NZ too). I will try to stay on some farm for some time at the end of my stay, too.

Tsu- im not quite sure I get what your saying if you can could you please try to explain it again Thanks
Re: help and advice Posted by Shawn on Jun 23, 2010
I think that Tsu cut the shape of the hands and feet out of foam first and then cut fabric in the same shape then pinned it "around" the foam. If I recall she hand stitched when she made her version of Peanut and did not use the machine. Ok Billy... where is the link to the stitch pages where they show the differnt hand stitchs? I know that is going to be Cody's next question.
As a side note. I am not sure where Tsu's original post when she made her version. I'll see if I can find it.
P.S. The Ladder stitch is the one you are looking for if you are sewing by hand from the right side.

I think everyone finds sewing hands and feet tricky. Practice is probably the best way to go about it, I often get some scrap fabric and practice before making the real thing. The thing I've found easiest is to make sure between the fingers/toes is a curved line. I started off making V shaped stitching between fingers and that makes it harder to separate the fingers from one another without making the stitches come apart. Sewing in a U shape is much much better and will make for less wrinkly fingers once you stuff them (if you are stuffing them).
@Tsu, you're lucky. NSW is considerably warmer than VIC. We're getting quite a cold spell down here. As for kangaroos and koalas, actually the only time I've ever seen them has been at zoos (well, my family has a 'summer' home up near Bendigo, about two hours from Melbourne, and kangaroos were often seen in a neighbouring field. Not close enough for petting - not that you'd want to! Wild kangaroos are very nasty).
Travelling is a great idea, I've not seen much of Aus. myself, I hope you get to Uluru or one of the other big tourist spots!

I too hand sticth because I don't have a machine. I know some basic stitches so I think that area is taken care of. I prefer the Henson stitch and sometimes encorperate the baseball stitch into it where I think it would work better. Thanks for all the advice guys I'm going to take it all as I remake peanut and start on my new puppet I bought all the supplies today
