Hi all, yes, I am back... Posted by Sandra on Jun 26, 2010
Hi all, after many months of taking a break, the bug of making a new puppet has gotten to me yet again. I decided to continue on some old projects that I started last year and for now, I find that I am really rusty. But the errors I make in my puppets are at my advantage because the extra seem's on my puppets can be used in the puppet itself. Right now, I decided to take one ugly head I was making to make a pirate, filled with scar's on his skin. So far, I am having fun making him. This puppet will be a gift for a friend who has been more than patient since I started that puppet something like a year ago.

Anyway, I am glad to be back. How are you all? Is Shawn back from his production he was working on last summer? I will try to continue working on my marionnette next fall if all goes well :D

Later!

All is well in puppet land........... Glad you are back. Maybe we can get Shawn to work some more on that tutorial. I finally got everything I needed just need some paper towels and some clear acrylic paint. Do you know what the difference between modge poge and glue in reference to the supply list Shawn gave us? glad you are back.

Thanks Billy,
About your question, I do believe that the difference between mod podge and glue is that mod podge is not just glue, it is a kinda sealer as well. It add's a protective layer into your work, preventing your work form peeling and eventually falling appart like it would happen sometimes with glue. Well that is what I got from wikianswers here http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Is_Mod_Podge_the_same_thing_as_Elmers_glue
I hope that it will answer your question.

For what I was using the Mod Podge on, you really don't need the sealing aspects of the product. White glue or even wheat paste could be used instead.  At the time of the tutorials I was not able to get to a store that had wheat paste or wall paper paste so I decided to substitute the Mod Podge and see how it worked.

Welcome back SHould!

Thanks Daryl and Shawn.

Well one aspect that is a must about mod podge is that you just have to take the bottle, shake, open and use. As for wheat paste or wallpaper paste, you have to prepare it all. So in a way it is much cleaner and simpler to uses.

Well I guess I needed a break. I was not having fun making puppets and I was not having any ideas anymore and that can be a real bummer. When I create, I like to have fun doing it cuz for me there is no point if I am not enjoying my work. So I was focussing on my drawing instead cuz I had more ideas there. So I took a long break and then yesterday, the bug got to me again and it feel's good again to create. You are right Daryl by saying that the bug never completely leave's us and that it is dormant sometimes and then it comes back.

I am glad to be back and I do hope to learn new things again.
Puppet hug all!

Nice you see you back, Should, looking forward to your puppet making, I guess puppet making has seasons sometime too, but I must admit, I adore making puppets and talking about puppets, and thinking about puppets, and talking to my puppets, lol. Welcome back!
