I have a tendancy to make everything too complicated, this is a good craft challege to inspire the KISS principal (keep it simple stupid) I had thought about making a few special puppets as gifts, but now I'm thinking more people will get simpler puppets for Christmas! The gift you are giving your brothers here is your time, the cost is immaterial (if you'll pardon the pun, though I think it's a good one!)

Its actually an old metal Singer. IT needs some heavy duty cleaning though. I could not believe how much it weighed. And I just got it this morning. It took a lot longer then I thought it would. But I finally have it.

I agree with Shawn................. however I don't think you can beat a old timey metal machine like Grandma had. I had a singer once but ruined it by accidentally spraying stuff called goop in to the machine parts instead of machine oil. The two cans had similar colored labels. So always read labels before you use stuff and keep your machine dusted and oiled. I might mention that when sewing on fleece it dulls needles real fast so keep a supply on hand.

Yep, there's nothing quite like the old heavy machines. My daddy passed last year. I went to the UK for the farewell service. I brought back to Barbados with me his sewing notions and his modern Brother sewing machine. There was an old, heavy black and gold Singer machine that I had to leave behind, it was too heavy, I wished I'd have been able to bring that too. So now I have two machines, both Brother's.
It's true that you get thru more needles sewing with fleece, I just never remember and then spend days wondering why my sewing looks so icky.
I hope the machine you found cleans up and works for you.
(I plan on adding a serger {overlocker my dad called them in his day} to my collection at some point)

I think it is always nice to keep family members together. Sorry I could not resist.

I've been gone a little over a year now, its been a very strange and eventful year for me. Moving and a lot of other things. Now my puppet supplies are back out of storage, I have a sewing machine that I hope will still run. So I will once again try and tackle this Idea. I really hope I get to finish this.
