Cody,
Maybe if you have your mom come on the site and read the post she might be more comfortable with it. You do have to be careful with the process though and keep things clean.

Also here are Stiqpuppets video's on dyeing foam.  Notice the precautions he takes.

Thanks Shawn for showing the video's. I also thought I had one for dying specifically antron fleece.  Does anyone know if I did do one on this topic?  or did it get lost in the shuffle?

Anyways the process is pretty much the same as foam just that you are using a different material.

*goes searching for the video on Antron Fleece dyeing.*

Your right Daryl I think I do remember you doing a session on dyeing Antron.  Maybe it did not get recorded?

BTW:  Thank you for doing the videos.  There a lot of good ones on your YouTube account.

I went to a local store and went to the fabric department to see if they had Antron or something close to it (I knew they didn't have Antron) but when I was there I met an elderly couple that thought I was looking for some type of quilt filler stuff because of the look of the swatch I had from ga stage i felt the quilt thing and it seemed pretty similar the only differences are  it is a little bit less shiny it was a little bit thinner and the back
of it wasn't as soft as Antron does anyone know what it is and if it would work because it is a whole lot cheaper and if it would work and you could dye it I might as well get it

That is called batting and it would not work.  If you opened up the package you would see that the sheet is not woven fabric but more of a pressed product.  You can not really sew it without it tearing unless you put it between fabric like in a quilt.  That being said it is useful in puppet making.   I often use it to soften edges or sculpt out features on puppets. I would use it over a poly foam "skull" and the cover in fabric.

I did see batting but I don't think that's what it was because what I compared it to was sold by both bulk and yard and it was woven I did see batting though

It sounds like it might be a heavy duty interfacing or stabilizer fabric.

If it is not too much a yard, then I say give it a try.  If it is sold of the bolt then it should have details about it on the end.  That might help us figure out exactly what it is not to mention if you do use it and it works we can pass on the name of the product to others. You know I've used bath towels before for my puppets covering so anything is possible.
