Mouth plate material Posted by Billy D. Fuller on Jul 14, 2010
We have talked about all types of materials used in making mouth plates for puppets. There are all type of designs of mouth plates...................... I'm wanting to know what the average measurements are for most patterns you are using. Do you cut your mouth plate from a 6" x 6" square or bigger. I'm working on a new project that I need to know this information. I have a lot of patterns and these patterns require different sizes with averages ranging from a 6" x 6" or 6" x 7" or a 7" x 8" square being the most common used. I would appreciate your feedback.
Do you use any of these products in your mouth plates?
PVC board
Corrugated signboard
Gator board

I may consider selling these items but need to know if anyone would be interested in mouth plate materials. I'm restocking supplies and will have my store open soon.

Sintra 3.0mm plastic...or gasket rubber are a good reliable material that has passed the test of time.....since we all know the mouth plate is the most used and abused part of the puppet.

You usually find it in the plumbing department of your local hardware store like lowes or home depot
