Sintra is expanded PVC, and there are other less expensive manufacturers for it. It doesn't have to be called Sintra. Same with Gator board, there are equally good less expensive brands of foam board out there. So instead of looking for Sintra or Gator, try looking for Expanded PVC or Foam Board.
Coroplast is a trade name for a fluted plastic sign material often used for real estate signs etc. made from polypropylene in a pretty wide variety of colors. (I only know this stuff because I work for a plastics company and we deal with this stuff daily.)
Anyhoo, the reason I posted was to let you know there are less expensive materials than these popular brand names that will work just as well. No need spending extra money if you don't need to!

April, this is good info. Name brands often make things confusing!

Yes they do! And often times you are paying more for that name than the product itself.

Ok, Lowe's acted like I was a pure idiot when I asked for Gasket rubber. Same thing when I asked for a particular carpet padding that I want (it has a honeycomb design and is blue).
I then traveled to the auto parts store. They had some, but it was not pliable enough for what I need. The gasket material I have is red, fairly thin and bendable.
Both of these came with a puppet kit I ordered several years ago, so I have only the pieces that came in the kit. I can post pictures if necessary.
Thanks

I got some from Home Depot.
Re: Mouth plate material Posted by MsPuppet on Aug 27, 2010
Thanks. Home Depot told me they did not have it. I kept looking (with the HD employee right beside me) and I found it. However, I wanted it in larger pieces than 6 x 6. I went to a plumbing supply and they said "hmmm we don't sell anything like this. What are you going to do with it?"
I have found it from a supplier, and can purchase it in large rolls. It comes out to about $4.50-5.00 per foot (depending on what shipping comes to). Let me know if you need some, I'll sell it at cost.

Its great they make puppet-specific material for mouth plates. So far, what I've been doing is going down to the recycling bin and going through the packing boxes, like for microwave, toasters, whatever. I use use these, as I can cut the cardboard to any size and shape, its tough stuff and I bend it so that my hand is controlling the mouth on the laminate side, so when my hand gets sweaty, it doesn't destroy the cardboard. Its worked like a charm so far.
