I think she uses it as transfer paper like used on T-Shirts. I read up about this but not sure I don't fully understand the wax paper process. Some images you have to reverse.

I agree with Chris! I think I understand but not sure. I assume you print the image you want to transfer on the waxed side of the butcher paper? That has to be cheaper then the stuff you buy at the office supply that is for this.
Re: gaffers tape Posted by Nikole H. on Aug 10, 2010
No it's simpler than that. What I do is I use the wax butcher paper only as a stiffener to get through the printer. I need the wax part of the paper to be ironed onto the back of my fabric to keep the fabric on the paper. The wax is melted to the back of the fabric and acts as a temporary fixative. You then run the fabric through your ink jet printer normally. The printer will then print on the front of the fabric thus creating your own patter. Here's a practical puppet usage for this technique:
Create a puppet image on your computer via illustrator or some other computer drawing program. You can also find any picture that you would like printed on fabric. So say you want to make a simple hand puppet with a drawing that you made. You can even scan a drawing to your computer or use the photo copy option on your printer. It's soooooooooooo easy. Then you have your own custom printed fabric.
Shall I do a quick tutorial? I'll set it up now.

Billy
why gaffers tape and not duct tape for mouth plates?
Theatrical supplies sell it.
One Way Street (www.onewaystreet.com) sells it in black and fluorescent colors.

The main reason I ordered it was to see what the difference was............... I have seen so many refer to using it. Now that I received it I can see the difference. Duct tape has a vinyl coating over fabric........ while gaffers tape is a rubberized material over fabric. It seemed to be a bit tougher. Just my opinion. I have used duct tape for years but will use gaffers tape from now on.
