Curious About Professional Puppetry Posted by RunnyBabbit on Jul 19, 2010
Hello, everyone!
My name's James, and I've been performing in a non-profit puppet ministry for seven years.
The ministry takes on the form of a puppet "band," with rod-arm puppets (although
I've had experience with human-arm puppets as well) equipped with toy instruments that play
and mime-perform music played on a CD with a sound system. Also thrown in are skits, improv-audience
participation and the like. And I was curious if I could turn my puppetry talents and experience into
some kind of career. If anyone could point me in the right direction to information,
I would really appreciate it!
And this is my good friend Reggie, my most-commonly used puppet and on-stage persona
I'm new here and I apologize if this thread is misplaced

You don't need a degree in puppetry but it may be the way you want to go. Many puppeteers have simply learned from experience. Check out Daryl's BlogTV series. You can see the info on the left column. He has shows every week or so and that would be a good resource for you. There are tons more things within the forum post that you'll find like just browse a bit.
