Finger wires Posted by Sunbeatle Puppets on Jul 23, 2010
Another question... :P  So do you guys use some sort of wiring to give your puppets posable/ bendable fingers?
if so, what do you use, and where do you get it?
thank you!

I dunno where to get it but Flourist's Wire works just fine! I've used it because my uncle works for a company that builds floats for the Rose Parade but I'm sure you can ask around at Micheal's or Jo Ann's

I use 18 or 20 gauge hardware wire you find at Lowes or Home Depot.

Yes that is it........... keep in mind the higher the number the thicker the wire....... the lower the number the thinner the wire. According to AWG
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_wire_gauge this I guess applies to all type wire electrical and hardware types.

I use jewellry wire. Florist's wire, I discovered, doesn't hold its shape well inside the hand and tends to try and expand out.

Actually, the larger the number the smaller the wire, I believe.

I get confused on this ......................... you may be right Jomama! That is why I have to look and feel what I'm buying. I did buy some nichcrome wire on EBay which is 40 awg and it is much smaller than some 20 gauge stainless steel wire I bought at Lowes................. so that would stand to reason.

Yes Jomama is correct, the higher the number the thinner the wire.  Like you Billy, I always get confused on that one.
