polartec/feet Posted by Cody on Jul 24, 2010
Its me again I have 2 questions this time though
1: has anyone ever used polartec 200 or 300 on a puppet? if you have can you please show pics of the result I want to know how good it works.
2: does anyone know of a good free foot pattern? I never know where to start on the feet.
thanks for all the support through my many questions/problems haha

Cody,
Polartec 100 is to thin, 200 is great and 300 is not necessary for puppets only heavy weight winter cloths. It makes beautiful puppets. It is pricey thought, so unless you are making it for a client, then regular fabric store fleece will work just fine. I don't have any photos, because I am still building mine using the remaining blacklight anti pill yellow fleece that I used to sell. It helps keep the price of the premade puppets down. Make sure you ask for samples because the colors on the screen at nothing like the colors of the actual fleece. It is just a lower priced alternative to using antron while perfecting skills.

Sorry no info on foot pattern. I just draw out the shape of a baby's feet, only allow for about 1/4" seam allowance. Leave the heel of the foot open to stuff.

You may have to tweak the drawing a bit.............. don't forget to cut two for each foot. If you need help on how to sew feet to legs let me know.

Cody,
It depends on the style. Example. 3465-69547 (made those numbers up) The first four numbers are the style, meaning the colors in that style will all be the same type of feel, thickness etc. They have many, many styles. Under the swatches it says things like Dbl Vl, Tweed/Vel: DWR. They are in red...click on those and it will take you to the glossary of terms. That explains what the fabrics are like. Hope this helps.
