Looking for Avenue Q puppet Patterns Posted by somethingradical on Jul 27, 2010
Hey guys...I knew this would be the best place to ask this. I was approached to build the puppets for a production of Avenue Q. The production isn't until next year but they would like me to start production soon. I have seen some amazing reproductions here and was wondering if you guys were sharing your patterns...I could pay if need be but at the moment it would be hard seeing as I won't get paid for all of the puppets (3 of each main character) until the production goes up. If anyone could give me advice I would be all too thankful!
I am sure I could pattern these in my own time but since others have already done such an amazing job, I just wanted to ask....
Thanks in advance!

Why do they have to be like the originals?    In fact technically even if the rights to the production have now been released the look and design of the puppets would still be copyrighted I think by the original designer. That being said the Project Puppet patterns would be the place to start I think.  They have all the basic head shapes of the characters.  We do have one member that has built replica's, but I am pretty sure he sculpted them out of blocks of foam. Not really a pattern when you do that.

i know umm, darkranth? i think... makes them. he sculpts them out of foam blocks and adds a foam sheet jaw. I've seen his puppets and they are phenomenal, so i would talk to him!
