It's definatley on my bucket list. Right now I'm building a the new website for our puppet company, so my hands are tied. I hate being the tech guy, I've got to edit the videos and make the sites, if it were up to ME I'd just be a puppeteer.

Hey everybody!
Just curious as to how everybody is getting along and if anybody has any questions regarding the contest. You don't have to "give anything away" concerning your character. I just wanted to see how things were going in general.
We've already received 4 entries so far, which is a record with it being still over two weeks until the deadline. Still not too late to start if you haven't yet!

There were some questions in another thread as to whether you can alter the pattern or not? I'll see if I can find that thread

Good call, Billy!
I'll post this here as well as in the other thread just in case folks are following one or the other. Here is an excerpt from a recent Project Puppet Update (our email newsletter) that answers the question...
Can I make changes to the Simple Series patterns to create my puppet character for entry into the contest?
The answer is...YES! The rules state that "the basic unaltered head and body patterns should be used as a base or starting point for the character". This simply means that you should use the Project Puppet pattern as a basic foundation on which to build your character. After that, you may enlarge, reduce, substitute, add to, slice and dice that pattern, even beyond recognition!
If you are concerned that your entry may be disqualified from the contest because you plan to deviate from the Project Puppet pattern extensively, then simply take a few snapshots during the building process that show how the pattern was used as a base for the puppet character. More than likely, you will not need to provide the photos as proof, but it may allow you to rest easier and to be even more creative during the building process.

My sister wants to take part in the the contest shes 10. i just wondered if i'm allowwed to sew the template for her? and guide her when using materials that may harm her ( Hot glue) or does she have to do it all alone? she has done her own character info and designed it herself!

I think that would be a great experience for her.............................. and a little help would not hurt. I however would make sure that she watches you closely as you sew and help her. This is just my own opinion!

I got a reply from Project Puppet and its ok! She has been watching me make my current project and she has been interested in making her own! So i drew up a plan and asked her what materials she needs and she got the materials spot on! Even where we can get it from! she will be doing it herself but I'm obviously gonna sit with her on the sewing machine and guiding her hands so she doesn't hurt her self and i will control the pedal so its nice and slow for her. She is very talented at things like this as my mum has taught her the basics already!
