Yup, that's it.

I used the same pictures, because it's the same puppet.  Those pictures are actually of the one that I kept for myself, and the others are just copies of it.

I was having trouble with it showing up in Ebay searches last night, so I'm glad you guys found it.  I have NEVER had an auction take more than 10 minutes to show up in searches, but after 4 hours last night it still wasn't being found by ANY method of searching...searching for the title, for my username as the seller, and even for the item number.  I was getting worried for a while that maybe it had been removed.  It actually told me that it was removed when I searched via item number, but was still listed under my selling tab...so at that point I realized Ebay must have been having some issues.

You may consider buying Paul Louis book......................... He covers some excellent tips on successful selling on E Bay. " Making money with puppets "

I will definitely look into that.  Seems like a worthwhile $24 to spend.

Thanks!!

My 2 cents:

I charge $20 for a set of legs.

I am sure you are aware you can get boxes free from the P.O., or order them from USPS online. If the boxes are sizes you can use - these are for priority shipping. I often ship first class rather than priority because it is cheaper and the arrival time is not more than a day after priority.

Try a company that sells moving boxes, I have found they are cheaper than Wal Mart, Office Depot, etc.

Bubble wrap is really not necessary in packaging a puppet. I put them in a plastic bag (I have a roll of cleaner bags that I bought and they work great), then put the bag in the box.

As for price - some might pay several hundred dollars for a puppet. Most of the people I sell to would not. They buy them for schools or churches, and their budgets won't allow it.  I do some custom stuff, and do charge more for that.

Unique items are going to bring a higher price.

I am not trying to discourage you at all. However, I've done sewing, crafts, puppets, etc, for years. I've sold in craft malls, craft shows, taught classes to all ages (including University of Texas)... you get the idea.  People tend to tell you "you should sell that,"  and they have no experience in selling (or making) items.  Just because you make a few items and someone says, "you should sell it" does not mean you have to.  Some folks find it is no longer fun when you have to meet deadlines and make so many items you never want to see another one. LOL

------------
Now I have a question.  Is the sock puppet pattern copyrighted? Project Puppet patterns?  I know we discussed copyright a long time back, but we have a lot of newbies on here.  I would hate to see them get in trouble for selling something that is copyrighted (does anyone know if there has ever been a problem with buying a pattern and making/selling the item)?
Re: Ebay, Craft Shows, Selling, and Pricing... Posted by Gimpdiggity on Aug 13, 2010
Project Puppet's copyrights are only on the patterns, not the products actually made with the patterns.  So you can make and sell anything you like from their patterns.

They only expressly prohibit the "mass production" of puppets from their patterns...meaning, you can't take the patterns and plot them into some industrial sewing system and start churning them out by the hundreds.

That is mentioned in the FAQ on the Project Puppet site, and I contacted Pasha specifically with the question because I wasn't sure what the definition of "mass production" was.  I let him know I would be making them and selling them one by one on Ebay and possibly like 10 or so at a craft galleria, and Pasha said that would be absolutely fine.

So that shouldn't be an issue at all.

Ms Puppet

I'm going to go out on a limb here because I believe this has been discussed before. The Project Puppet patterns themselves are copyrighted and can not be used for teaching classes or selling copies of them. However the patterns are a basic shapes for you to create from them . Allowing you to make puppets of all types. Therefore you have the right to sell them if you like. If anyone has a question feel free to ask Pasha from projectpuppet.com or pm him from this forum.

Thanks Billy. I knew we discussed copyrights, somehow I missed the Project Puppet discussion.  The past year has been a crazy one for me, lots of health issues. I totally missed some discussions.
I appreciate the way you keep us informed and do so much research that benefits us all.

Hi again everyone.

I ended up switching from Flat Rate Shipping to Priority Mail variable pricing.  I figure this can save some people some money.  The Flat Rate Shipping Large Box cost $14.50, but by going with the variable shipping based on the weight, people could save quite a bit of money.  As a matter of fact, based on weight, the shipping would be at maximum $9.55.  So that will save a buyer an extra $5 at least, and still be really easy for me to do.

I added to the shipping information that if people wanted any other accessories with their puppet, if the shipping ended up being more money, I would send them a revised invoice reflecting the total shipping.  However, I think that most of my accessories that I'm offering won't raise the weight past the 2 pound mark that I'm already shipping at.

Do they do that for free? Here in Aus we have to pay for that sort of service.
