Billy another question about dyeing polar fleece. Would you suggest just dyeing it with something darker than you actually wanted, so it would end up closer?

The amount of dye vs water and how long you leave it in a dye bath determines how dark it is.

example: one tablespoon of dye to one gallon of hot water for twenty minutes will yield one color
while four tablespoons of dye to one gallon of hot water for thirty minutes will be darker. You have to experiment.

Sue has some pictures in her gallery of some fabric dyed at different times. I recommend buying a box of rit dye at walmart and experiment with dyeing a old white t-shirt by cutting it up in to strips and leaving each strip in the dye bath at different times recording the results on a index card.................. always record your results so you will have reference the next time you want to dye that color again. I like to staple a color swatch to the card as reference also.

Dye Test_1

These are the colors I got when dying antron. This is the puppet I made from the dyed fleece.

You need to experiment with the amount of dye and the amount of time. It does help to keep swatches with details about dye, time, etc.
