TeddyBear - You could also mark the outside by a 1/4 or 1/2 an inch, whatever you needed, and cut it out that way. Just leave the mouth and darts alone...

Animal31- by "darts" do you mean the slits in tha fabric used to make a round shape?

Yes that is what a dart is. Darts are meant to help shape the fabric in some way. Even your cloths often have darts in them.

For lazy people or without drawing skills, (I am a mixture of both), try to use the program PROPOSTER.
It allows  you to scale up and down any picture and then you can print in a home printer in several sheets. There is a free evaluation version which damages the picture with a legend evaluation version or something similar, but for resizing patterns it is not a problem.

When I edit most pictures, or patterns, I use Irfanview: http://www.irfanview.com/. It's free and with the added plugins capable of viewing almost any type of file.

I just saw this post and thought I would share what I do to upsize the patterns.

In the printer settings, you can usually create a custom paper size. I buy 11x17 paper, then, when I am getting ready to print, you can usually create a custom paper size of say 10.5x13 which is a 2in increase from the 8.5x11. Then, there should be a 'Size options' section, and if you choose 'fit', it will upsize the pattern and seems to keep the proper ratio, so it doesnt stretch funky. It made the difference from the smaller original size to allowing me to put my hand in them comfortably.
