Hi all,

Some of you may remember Bear Town, a short-lived web series I did way, way back in 2004. I occasionally still get questions about whether or not I'm ever going to do something with it and the answer is...I hope so!

I spent the first half of the year directing a short demo for "Bear Town". I really shouldn't discuss the specifics of why it was shot, but essentially this was a test to see if it was feasible to produce it as either an independent film or a TV series. Unraku - who did all of the puppets, sets, props and puppets for the demo - has a gallery of photos from a Bear Town demo shoot posted online. The demo itself isn't finished yet and probably won't be released anytime soon online, but I thought you all might like to see some of these photos in the meantime.

It is good to hear that this project has a future!  Looks spectacular!  I just have one question?  Did the puppeteers work long hours without showering on this project?

No, no lol the masks and glasses were a safety requirement in certain shots because the puppet was throwing a smoke grenade.

We frequently use eye protection too, because there are often a lot of puppeteers jammed together in a small space with rods flying everywhere. I actually got a black eye on one of the shoot days because a rod hit me when I wasn't wearing safety glasses!

Ohhh, cool. I've seen some of these before either from Socks posting them or just wandering around the Unraku site.

The photos a great!  Looks like a very talented bunch.  Love, love, love the cockroaches.
