Nursing Home program Posted by LJ on Aug 16, 2010
I occasionally do nursing home programs even though I prefer doing programs for children - but today at the nursing home I was at I had something special happen. When I perform at nursing homes I ask that they do invite children because that is what I am used to and I figure it is good for the residents to see children having fun too and today was no different. However, after the show the activities director told me that one of the 80 year old residents said that she had never seen a puppet show before! So I was able to give her an experience that she had never had before! WOW! I often think that it is the children that I am providing a unique experience for and that the residents have actually seen shows like mine before, but I was proved wrong today! What a great day!!

That's great LJ............... that goes to show you that you're never to old to learn something new. Who said you couldn't teach an old dog new tricks. I'm so glad you had the chance to experience that...... makes you want to send her a hand puppet.

We used to visit assisted living homes also.  At first it was kind of hard at first, but soon we realized how much they enjoyed having us there.  What a great experience for you and the resident.  Awesome job, LJ
