Hello!!!! Posted by frankiel on Aug 17, 2010
Hi everyone!

I completed my first two puppets today! I used the Project Puppet Roly pattern and i'm pretty pleased with the outcome considering they are my first.

I am currently training to be an elementary/primary school teacher in the UK. Part of my training consists of making a resource for the technology subject. I have chosen to create a puppet where i can change the facial features as this will allow my future pupils to explore how different features can change the character of the puppet!

Since i began reading about puppet building i have instantly become hooked and I'm looking forward to design and make a lot of puppets!

I will post pictures soon!

Welcome! As a former teacher myself I am always happy to see other teachers realize the importance of using puppets in their classrooms! That is why I teach classes to teach teachers how to use puppetry in their classrooms! We would love to see pictures of your puppet!!

Here is the one my pupils will use. I am going to attach a nose ears and hair by velcro. This will hopefully go down well with my University tutors.

I'm going to completely finish my other one then post a pic of him! I'm currently having trouble with the legs and feet, new to sewing machines!

Here's a thought....you could use magnetic snaps to attach the features.  They are more expensive than velcro, but are small and easier to hide.  Just a thought. Very cute little guy.  Good job.  The kids will love them.

Magnetic snaps..http://www.rnllee.com/storepages/craftworld1.htm  you can also get them at JoAnn Fabrics or Hancock Fabrics etc.

Thank you!

I thought about using magnets! My Mum makes those real life dolls and she uses them a lot. I think i will order some of those!

Thank you for your advice! With those it will look a lot better and more stable!
