If you make the pattern the exact way that it shows, it's pretty easy to add just two small pieces of foam to the top and bottom of the foam that goes in there already so that they form a "skull."
I did that on my second Simple Sock puppet and really liked how it turned out. I've done it on all of them since.

When I made my puppets with the glorified sock patter I just stuck some foam in the scull too and it worked. Your puppet looks great!

Don't most people just stick their hand in with no stuffing or anything? kinda like kermit?

Yes that is why the patterns are called the "Simple Series" they fit more like a puppet made from a sock. By adding foam just fills out the head a bit. It can be a bit snug if you add foam or stuffing but I just increase the pattern a bit to accommodate the changes.

yeah, if i was gunna do one with a foam head i would make it a little bit bigger too!
Re: Glorified Sock Puppet Pattern Posted by Gimpdiggity on Aug 26, 2010
I don't think there's any reason to make it any larger.
I have really large hands, and with all the foam in the skull of my Simple Sock puppets they still fit me just fine.
