Online Marketing for Puppeteers Posted by PreschoolPuppets on Aug 30, 2010
Hi everyone,
Shawn has suggested that I share some marketing info with you all. I have created a short pdf report with some info and tips that you may find helpful.
You can get it at
http://www.preschool-puppets.com/online-marketing-for-puppeteers
Just a note, I have included some affiliate links in the document so if that bothers you then just type in the url address yourself to bypass any links.

Great report Karen! Thanks for sharing. This was actually what I was referring to in Karen's intro everyone. I realized right of the bat that she was good at connecting the dots so to speak.
People well often email me and ask if they can "advertise" on the site. I offer to them what is offered to everyone, which is the ability to network. Your profile is a great place to start. You can add info about yourself there and link your site and some of the other social networks that are out there. While I like folks to keep it kind of simple you also have your signature that is attached to every post you make that can hold an advertisement of sorts. I am not a big fan of flashing banners and such in sigs but line or two and a couple links can serve you well. Then all you need to do is become active in the community. Each time you post you advertise.
Again thank you Karen for taking the time to do the write up.

You're welcome. Yes, filling out your profile and putting some relevant links in your signature is a great way to advertise and build links back to your site. It's great that this forum is very open to marketing.

Well if it is in regards to puppetry I am open but others get banned pretty fast. Quite frankly your approach of introducing yourself and the fact that you did reply to both my PM and others comments kept you safe. I don't mind if a real person is going to be active and participate but I kind of resent hit and runs or automated posters.
There are a lot of services out there that promise hits for your site that use computers or cheap labor to post to forums and other automated sites. You don't want to get yourself thrown into that category. It can get you listed as a spammer.
Karen has taken the correct approach I believe. She joined the site and had a look at how things work then posted in an area that was relevant to what she was going to say. I know it is a bit more work but I feel this is the honest and honorable way to do things.
I also feel this approach can give you more bang for your buck in the long run. Ask yourself why you have purchased something that you heard about here? Is it because you have built a relationship with others here and if they post about something you have more confidence in it?

Hi, PSP. I read your article and found it to be very resourceful and informative. The thing that inspired me to write my eBook, was that I read too many posts from the puppetry community, which say that you cannot make any money in puppetry. As someone who has made a good living in puppetry, I felt it was necessary to put this false concept to rest. Your article proves that you can promote and profit your puppetry business, just as you would promote and profit ANY business. It's just a matter of following the steps and simply doing it. Thank you for sharing such a great article More people need to read it. I will be posting a link to it on my FB page and my Twitter page.

Yes, when you are marketing it's all about relationships. People like to do business with those they know, like and trust.

Wow! I just found out that Karen from Preschool Puppets is somebody who I lived and worked with in Theater Summer Stock, many years ago. I had no idea! Just goes to show you the benefits of joining excellent forums like PuppetANDStuff. Ya never know who you'll reconnect with. Awesome!
