THat got your attention...made you look... ...sorry. I didn't like the hands on my favorite puppet...the flat finger extended look was driving me crazy. Yes, I could have made new arms and hands, but that seemed like too much work soooo, I cut some pieces of galvanized fencing wire doubled it over, made a hole with a bamboo skewer right through the foam all the way down to the palm and inserted the wire. At first my my plan was to make a loop in the wire and sew the end at the tip of the finger but after I put the wire in I just pushed it off to the side of the hole and it stayed in! I figured when you bend the finger it keeps the wire from moving around anyway...so far so good.

Good Job!............. and yes I thought you had cut yourself with the razor blade and cut a tendon in to shreds and it required surgery.

You are going to want that loop on the end with it sewn, I would bet. Over time wire tends to work it self to the end then poke out. Same things happen with boning costumes. You might be ok in this case since it is your own puppet but I do recommend that wen you use wire in hand or other things that you try to bend or cap then end of the wire so it won't poke out of the foam or fabric.

Thanks Shawn. Yep, next puppet that is the plan. Can't believe I didn't put wires in the first time....oh well.

In a hand if you bend the wire to follow the line of the hand then at the wrist you can join/twist the two then bend into a loop. Should keep things from poking out.
